Description

Well, here he is! This is an OC of mine called Minos.

The character design for this tough guy came from one of iedasb’s adoptables. I was looking through the free ones (I’m currently poor at the moment and in need of inspiration) and decided taking one in might be a good way to start the character designs for the OCs I’m having trouble visualizing in my head. So, as you can see, I changed his look just a wee bit to fit the idea I had in mind. ^_^ I’m so glad I came across something suitable to what I’d imagined.

So, here’s what happened…

When I saw iedasb.deviantart.com/art/Cree… , # 1 caught my eye and I immediately thought of Minos. I’ve been attempting to find a good look for him for a while now, but I couldn’t come up with anything that seemed fitting. So, I had to jump at the offer – just draw to claim – that iedasb so kindly put out there for poor people like me. XD

Et voila! This is the result of three or four hours of my hard work sketching him out and coloring him in. ^_^ <3 Isn’t he cute?

Instead of keeping his arms boney, I gave him some muscles, though notice I did keep his forearms boney. No flesh there… None whatsoever. XD Don’t let that fool you, though. His forearms may be all bone, but he can still beat you in an arm wrestling match in his sleep. Heheh… ;P Anywhose, I darkened his skin a bit, too, and gave him a dark scar on his forehead. His wings took me the longest to do. All three of them gave me such a pain. But I think they turned out relatively nice for my first try at drawing them like this. =P

Minos is a pretty cool character even though I haven’t done much with him yet. ^_^’ I’ll have his full bio up soon … though it’ll take me a while to finish it because he was a character I hadn’t fully thought out before I sketched this. ;P

So, here’s the short version of his bio:

I haven’t figured out an exact age for him yet, but I was thinking somewhere around the 25 – 30 range.

He’s a tough guy – all muscle except for his boney forearms – and a bit power-hungry as well. He prefers to use his strength over cunning because – in his opinion – strength equals power. His eyes are naturally golden, but when he’s in a mood like that, they turn red and his metal jaw widens into a “slasher smile”, revealing ragged, razor-sharp teeth. So, watch out for his nasty bite. ;P Also, that extra wing attached to the band on his calf is actually a bladed weapon. When the circumstances call for it, he’ll detach the wing and slash his enemy to bits… or try to, in any case.

Now, his actual wings generally don’t see too much use for flight, though they’re more than capable of carrying him. He just prefers not to fly using them. Instead, he uses his wings for protection; he’ll pull them in front of himself as a shield to block an attack. They’re pretty strong and durable, though they’ve taken plenty of damage through the years.

He features in a story of mine called “Soul Kiss”, though I haven’t gotten too far through it yet considering it’s a sequel to a story I haven’t started. O_o’ Anywhose… In “Soul Kiss”, he works for a guy named “Scarface” – real name unknown – since it was “Scarface” who technically brought him back to life after his death. “Scarface” collected Minos’ soul and used it to animate the artificial body he’d spent years working on. That’s how Minos got the strangely shocking appearance he has now.

The side-effects of the soul transplant into a previously “dead” body via the method “Scarface” used include pain, scarring, and tainted skin tone. So, basically… the soul extraction process is the most painful part. After that, the senses are heightened, since souls are more perceptive to their surroundings when outside of the body. When the soul is forcibly placed into an artificial body, the process isn’t pleasant and the body undergoes what can be compared to the feeling of being burned alive. The skin darkens to a grey color, though slight traces of the original skin tone still remain, and a dark cross-shaped scar is burned into the forehead. Needless to say, once the soul has successfully gained control of the body, it is unable to escape unless removed via the extraction process again. It is also able to return to its “normal” senses according to the limitations of the body itself.

This is one of the “crazy” people my OC Tala Ku has to deal with. XD In case you don’t remember Tala, here’s the link to her bio: wolfiegrrrl.deviantart.com/art…. There are more characters in that circle, but I haven’t fully planned them out yet. O_o’ I just have rough ideas in my head at the moment. ^_^

Anyway, here’s the link to the original sketch: wolfiegrrrl.deviantart.com/art…

Comments and suggestions for how I can improve would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much! <3

Creeeeepppyyyy... O_o
But also kinda cool. ^^

That whole "soul extraction" thing sounds morbidly painful... and HE had to go through all that!?
Well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger (especially if you're already dead). ^^;
